Dr. Susan Lim is an accomplished surgeon who made a name for herself across Asia by becoming the first surgeon on that continent to perform a successful liver transplant. She became very well known in her country, Singapore, and was even given an award by the people of Singapore, The Spirit of the Century Award, which identified her as an ideal role model.

Dr. Susan Lim is a native of Singapore—born and raised there, she attended the Singapore Chinese Girls’ School and The Raffles Institution before leaving to attend Monash University in Australia. She was able to attend Monash University and study medicine because of a scholarship from the Colombo Plan, which is an attempt to strength the economic and social development of countries in the Asian Pacific region.

In 2003, Dr. Susan Lim started a company called Stem Cell Technologies that specialized in bio-technologies. In 2004, Dr. Susan Lim joined the Trinity College of the University of Melbourne, Australia, as a Fellow.

Dr. Susan Lim is a co-founder, along with her husband and one of their friends, of a charity called the Indiapore Trust. The purpose of the Indiapore Trust is to provide underprivileged children in the region with educational opportunities they would not otherwise have. The Indiapore Trust has awarded scholarships to students in need and donated a science laboratory to the Raffle Junior College.
